A few things to know

One baby, one celebration

Rather than having a separate baby shower for Mom and doekebraai for Dad, we're bringing everyone together for one relaxed afternoon at the dam. Everyone is welcome - partners, friends and family - and we are keeping the afternoon relaxed, outdoors and very much in the spirit of a good South African braai.

πŸ”₯

Food & braai

We'll be providing wors rolls, snacks and dessert. You are also very welcome to bring along extra meat, braai treats or snacks for yourself or if you would like to add to the spread.

πŸ₯€

Drinks

We will provide the basics, but please feel free to bring your own cold drinks, mixers or something a little stronger if that is more your style.

πŸͺ‘

What to bring

If you have a camping chair, please bring it along. The venue is outdoors in a relaxed farm setting, beside the dam with lovely shade under the trees. Please feel free to bring along a picnic blanket if that is your style so you can settle in comfortably.

🏊

Swimming & kayaking

You are very welcome to swim or kayak in the dam if you feel like it. If you plan on getting wet, please bring suitable clothes or swimwear and a towel.

A note from us

We are so excited to celebrate this next chapter with the people closest to us. Your love, support and presence mean the world already.

Gifts are appreciated but not expected. For anyone who would like to help us prepare, you are welcome to gift anything baby related. We have put together a small registry with items we still need, but there is absolutely no need to stick strictly to the registry.

Helpful info

A few practical notes for finding the venue and planning for a relaxed afternoon at the dam.

Parking and Directions

The venue is a little tucked away on the farm, so please allow a little extra time and keep an eye out for the landmarks along the way.

Coming from Somerset West via Old Sir Lowry's Pass Road, turn left at the superette into Knorhoek Road and continue for about 1.1 km to the security gate. Please bring your ID or driver's licence to sign in. After the gate, turn right onto the dirt road and continue for about 1.9 km. Cross the railway line, go through the gate for Cottage Stream Farm, and you will see The Dam on your left. Continue over the dam wall and you will find us there.

Parking is available near the venue along the dirt road once you are over the dam wall. The last stretch is a farm road, so just drive slowly and carefully.

Can I buy something not on the registry?

Of course. The registry is just a guide. Practical baby basics are always appreciated.

Should gifts be wrapped?

Wrapped gifts are welcome, but not required. The registry is mostly there to help avoid duplicates.
